Free Azat Miftakhov
Azat Miftakhov is a Russian (Tatar) graduate student in mathematics from Moscow State University who has been detained and tortured by Russian state authorities since February 2019 for its political beliefs. On January 18, 2021, he has been condemned to “six years in prison with serving a sentence in a general regime colony” where he is denied the right to access academic publications and continue his research.
The mathematics international community has a long record of supporting colleagues endengered for their political beliefs and human rights activities. The most recent success being the liberation and return of Tuna Altinel.
Support and engagement are far from sufficient while being absolutely necessary.
